You are invited to an Epiphany Celebration and Bonfire on Saturday, January 9th
You are invited to an Epiphany Celebration and Bonfire Saturday, January 9th 4:00 pm-? At the home of Fred and Vicki Schert 11626 NW 199th Avenue, Alachua
In the hustle and bustle I can get through the Holiday Season without experiencing spiritual growth. At Epiphany, after what I think to be the "official" holiday season comes to a close, I have a chance to slow down and "GET IT."
"CHRIST IS the LIGHT of the WORLD."
This celebration of Epiphany will include a short Communion Service under spreading Live Oak trees using Reserve Host . A pot luck dinner will immediately follow using paper plates and disposable utensils while Servants sit on lawn chairs or recline on blankets each Servant brings. Ain't got lawn chairs? There will be some fresh hay bale seating. Bales may be recycled at the end of the celebration by the neighbor's grateful 30 head of FL Cracker Cows.
At dusk we move lawn chairs, bales and blankets to the pasture and light the 30' by 16' by 6' bonfire topped with parched trees of Christmases past. Servants may dump their trees any time during the previous weeks by the church dumpster or bring them that afternoon. Those who can walk a 1/8 mile paved drive are asked to dump their trees from their vehicles over the pasture fence on the west of the drive, make the turn around the circle and park on the shoulder of NW 199th Ave. There is parking to the east of the house for those who need to park close. There will be wheel chair ramps to the facilities of the house and back porch.
The Lacrosse, FL brush fire truck will be standing by to supplement two garden hoses. Moms and Dads, sturdy fences keep children well away from the fire so that they may run freely in the pasture under starlit sky. If you wish to bring container beverages and coolers, they may.
El Nino should keep moisture up and burn ban at bay this year. Plan on it.
