Vestry Voice--November Meeting

VESTRY VOICE—December 2009

The Bylaws Committee has been reduced to one member, consequently  delaying the requested action to bring our Canons and Bylaws in compliance with those of the new Gulf Atlantic Diocese of ACNA.   Likewise the Personnel Committee is preparing to meet in response to the need to examine guidelines describing its duties and procedures.

A letter from our Bishop-elect was brought to our attention.  It suggests a pledge of 5% of actual income to be divided as follows: 1 % to our rescuing diocese (Kenya in our case) for those wishing to “participate in that overseas support”  and 4% to the new Gulf Atlantic Diocese for 2010 and 2011.  It was decided that since ours was a mid-year budget, we would continue with our present pledge of 1% to GADiocese through December.  After much discussion we arrived at a consensus of 2% to GADiocese as of January 2010.  This will be approved as part of the minutes at our next meeting.

We have three members who will be retiring from the Vestry this year: Bill McCrea, Diana Darr and Cary Kirby.  We give thanks for the important contributions they have made over the past three years.  It is time to begin consideration of those who would be willing to serve a three year term on the Vestry.  This is a unique opportunity to lend your gifts to serve at Servants of Christ Anglican Church.   Names were brought forward and contacts will be made within the next two or three weeks. A letter from Bishop James was distributed, indicating his readiness to release us to the care of Neil Lebhar upon his consecration early next year.
